West Point Grey · Vancouver, BC
What's in the suite and where it comes from. The bedding, the beds, and the groceries are all bought from Canadian companies, and two of the three started here in Vancouver.

The bedrooms
The sheets, pillowcases, duvets, and duvet covers are all from QE Home, which you might remember as Quilts Etc. It's a family-owned company based in Vancouver that has been selling bedding since 1992, and it was the first bedding company in Canada to become a Certified B Corporation.
B Corp certification is run by B Lab, a non-profit that scores a company on how it's governed, how it treats its workers, customers, and community, and what it does to the environment. A company needs 80 points to certify and has to be reassessed every three years. QE Home scored 88. For comparison, the median ordinary business that takes the assessment scores about 51.
The cotton is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which means the finished fabric has been independently tested for harmful substances.
The beds are from Sleep Country, which opened its first four stores in Vancouver in 1994 and is still Canadian-owned.
If you liked the sheets and want the same ones at home, QE Home has stores across Canada and sells online. Text me and I'll tell you which ones they are.
The kitchen
Groceries for the suite come from the local No Frills. It's a Canadian chain, and each store is run by a local owner-operator on a franchise rather than directly by head office.
After checkout, whatever food is left in the kitchen leaves one of three ways. Anything still sealed goes to the West Point Grey Community Pantry at St. Helen's Anglican Church. Anything opened goes to my parents' chickens, and whatever they can't eat goes into the compost.
